Judge Myers participates in evidence seminar for attorneys August 7, 2002 Court of Appeals Judge William H. Myers recently helped present a continuing legal education seminar dealing with the handling of evidence in civil litigation. Judge Myers, Gulfport attorney Ben Galloway and Jackson attorney Joel W. Howell III served as faculty for the July 26 workshop in Gulfport. About 60 lawyers attended the workshop, which was presented by Professional Education Systems Institute, LLC, of Eau Claire, Wis. Myers said the seminar was intended to sharpen participants' skills by requiring them to make quick decisions that applied case law and court rules. The workshop used a hypothetical negligence lawsuit and a series of vignettes to pose questions about federal and state court rules of evidence. The workshop also included an hour of ethics that explored questions such as the implications of reaching prospective clients in other states via Internet web sites. Myers, of Ocean Springs, joined the Court of Appeals in June 2000. He also serves on the Committee on Continuing Judicial Education. #### |
