Chancery Judge Kennie Middleton died September 17 Chancery Judge Kennie E. Middleton of Fayette died Thursday, Sept. 17, at Natchez Regional Medical Center. Judge Middleton, 59, was Senior Chancery Judge for the Seventeenth Chancery Court District of Adams, Claiborne, Jefferson and Wilkinson counties. He was first elected in 1994 and took the bench in 1995. He served two terms as mayor of Fayette before he was elected to the bench. He previously served as executive director of the Jefferson Comprehensive Health Center. He was editor and publisher of the Jefferson County Chronicle newspaper. Judge Middleton attended Alcorn State University and graduated from Southern University in Baton Rouge. He earned his law degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law. He was admitted to the bar in 1974. He practiced law as a partner in the firm of Gambrell and Middleton in Hattiesburg. He was later of counsel with the law office of Rep. Percy W. Watson of Hattiesburg. He was a member of the Magnolia Bar Association, the Mississippi Bar, the National Bar Association and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. Survivors include: wife, Claudine Starks Middleton, and two sons, Kennie Middleton Jr. and Keegan Middleton, all of Fayette, and two sisters, Deloris Stringer of Chicago and Mary L. Davis of Tuscaloosa. #### |
