Chief Justice reappoints Paul Breazeale to Ethics Commission

Chief Justice Bill Waller Jr. has reappointed Jackson certified public accountant Paul V. Breazeale to the Mississippi Ethics Commission.

Breazeale’s new four-year term will begin Nov. 15. Chief Justice Waller signed the order of appointment on Oct. 5.

Mississippi law requires that the Chief Justice appoint two of the eight members of the Ethics Commission. The Governor, Lieutenant Governor and the Speaker of the House of Representatives each make two appointments.

Breazeale is vice-chairman of the Ethics Commission. He has served on the Commission for eight years, having first been appointed in December 2008 by former Chief Justice Jim Smith.

Breazeale is president of the Board of Trustees of Hinds Community College. He previously served eight years on the Mississippi Board for Community and Junior Colleges, and was its chairman for two years. He has served as head of the Mississippi Society of CPAs, the Mississippi Baptist Foundation and the YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly. He is treasurer of the Mississippi Center for Freedom of Information.

Breazeale has been a CPA for 46 years. He is a shareholder in the Jackson accounting firm of Breazeale, Saunders & O'Neil, Ltd., which he co-founded in 1981.
