Wireless Communications for Chancellors and Circuit Judges

In order for the AOC to provide cellular services, you must make a written request using the Wireless Communications Policy Document. See the link below to download this document. Print the Wireless Communications Policy document, sign and date, and provide a valid, current e-mail address. The original signed document must be mailed to the AOC before cellular service can be provided.

In addition to the Wireless Communications Policy Document, you must submit one of the following calling plan forms:

  Option 1 - strictly a voice plan

Option 2 - provides a voice plan with text messaging.
Option 3 - provides a voice plan with Blackberry service (wireless internet and e-mail).
Option 4 - provides a voice plan with PDA service (Smartphone wireless internet and e-mail).
Option 5 - provides a voice plan with text messaging and Blackberry service (wireless internet and e-mail).
Option 6 - provides a voice plan with text messaging and PDA service (Smartphone wireless internet and e-mail).

Please print out the calling plan option that best suits your needs. Fill out the form and send the original to the AOC.

If you wish to get a new phone, you must indicate your selection on the calling plan option form. See links below regarding information on the available phones, current price list of phones, and coverage maps.

If you are currently a CellularSouth customer and wish to keep your current phone number, you need to fill out a Transfer form. If you are not a current CellularSouth customer and you wish to keep your current phone number, you must fill out the Transfer form and provide the AOC with a copy of your current wireless phone bill that includes the account name and address so that the service change can be completed. See the link below to download a transfer form.

After all necessary forms have been received, the AOC will order the phone and send it to you after it has been placed on inventory. Each phone comes with a charger and an ear bud. If you wish to purchase any other accessories, you may do so through the normal office allowance purchasing procedures. If you are unsure whether an accessory is a reimbursable expense, please contact the AOC prior to purchase.

If you want to transfer the phone numbers in your old phone to your new one, you will need to take both phones to the nearest CellularSouth store.

If you wish to keep the phone you are currently using, please contact the AOC to see if that is possible.

In addition to cellular service, CellularSouth has a state contract for data cards. These cards can be used to provide internet service for your computers. You can plug the data cards into laptops and/or desktops, depending on the type you select. One plugs into a PCMCIA slot or an Express card slot commonly found on laptops and the other plugs into a USB port commonly found on both desktops and laptops.

The data cards are listed at the bottom of the Current Price List of Phones link. Please enter the Manufacturer and Model Number on the Data Card Service Form. The Kyocera uses a card slot and the Franklin uses a USB port.

Even though there is no charge for the data cards, the AOC still has to place these items on inventory. Please fill out the Data Card Service form and send the original to the AOC. See the link below to download Data Card Service form. After the data card is received, the AOC will place it on inventory and send it to you.

A judge is eligible for reimbursement on only one data card. Also, the AOC will not approve reimbursement for a data card if the judge is currently being reimbursed for two or more internet service accounts.

Please contact the AOC if you have any questions: lackeyjk@courts.ms.gov or (601) 576-4636.
