August 12, 2002

The State Law Library in Jackson is now offering free access to computerized legal research.

The Law Library offers a computer terminal with free access to Loislaw, the nation's third largest legal research provider, said State Law Librarian Charlie Pearce.

Pearce said, "Anyone can come here and do unlimited searches in state and federal cases, state and federal codes and state and federal regulations. It has an enormous amount of primary legal information."

Access to the research is free. The Law Library charges 15 cents per page for making copies. Users may bring their own computer diskettes and copy the research for free, Pearce said.

The State Law Library is open to the public.

The State Law Library is located on the second floor of the Gartin Justice Building, 450 High Street in Jackson. It is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, except for holidays. The State Law Library telephone number is 601-359-3672.
