Jackson County Chancery Court enters emergency order

The Jackson County Chancery Court has delayed trials, motions and hearings scheduled between Aug. 29 and Dec. 1 in response to Hurricane Katrina. The Chancery Court suspended deadlines for filing motions, appeals and discovery materials until Dec. 1.

Chancellors Pat H. Watts, Jaye A. Bradley and Randy Pierce entered the Emergency Administrative General Order on Sept. 16.

The order does not affect statutes of limitations.

The Jackson County Courthouse in Pascagoula suffered water damage during the hurricane. The courthouse is closed for repairs.

The office of the Chancery Court Clerk is operating at a temporary location at the Civic Center at the Jackson County Fairgrounds. To contact the Chancery Clerk’s office regarding court filings, call 228-696-6264 or 228-696-6268.
