Hinds Circuit Intervention Court graduation set for December 16 December 5, 2025 Eleven people are expected to graduate from the Hinds Circuit Drug Intervention Court during a ceremony scheduled for 6 p.m. on Dec. 16. The ceremony will be held in Courtroom No.1 on the second floor of the Hinds County Courthouse at 407 East Pascagoula Street in Jackson. It will be the 52nd graduation for the program, the second oldest in the state, which began operations in 2000. The program will have 132 active participants after the graduation. Circuit Judge Winston Kidd, who oversees the program, said, “We are pleased that these individuals have met all of the requirements for graduation. This is a special time for the graduates. Additionally, during this holiday season, the gift of a second chance for our graduates is even more special as they celebrate this accomplishment with their families.” Judge Kidd said, “I am pleased to preside over Drug Court where we are working hard to give individuals a very much needed opportunity to be productive members of society.” Intervention courts seek to rehabilitate drug-using offenders through drug treatment and intense supervision with drug testing and frequent court appearances. Intervention courts provide participants access to resources and opportunities they need by coordinating the efforts of the judiciary, prosecution, defense counsel, probation, law enforcement, treatment, mental health and social service providers. Drug intervention court participants plead guilty to charges and are placed on intensive probation supervision. If they complete the multi-year program, some may have their records expunged. There are currently 50 intervention and treatment courts with 3,580 active participants. There are 23 adult felony programs, with an intervention court in every state Circuit Court district. There are 13 juvenile programs, eight family intervention courts and six mental health treatment courts. #### |
