Comments Sought on Proposed Amendments to the Administrative Procedures for Mississippi Electronic Courts
The Supreme Court seeks comments on proposed amendments to Sections 1.D. and 5.D. of the Administrative Procedures for Mississippi Electronic Courts. The proposed amendments allow attorneys registered with the Mississippi Electronic Courts system to view documents in all restricted cases remotely. Currently, the rules only allow attorneys of record to view restricted-case documents remotely.

The Supreme Court’s Rules Committee on Civil Practice and Procedure seeks comments on the Petition to Amend Certain Rules of the Mississippi Rules of Civil Procedure, filed by John D. Smallwood and the Mississippi Commission on Guardianships and Conservatorships. Smallwood and the Commission specifically seek to amend Rule 5.1 of the Mississippi Rules of Civil Procedure.

Comments Sought on Petition to Amend the Mississippi Uniform Rules of Youth Court Practice
The Supreme Court’s Rules Committee on Civil Practice and Procedure seeks comments on the Petition to Amend the Mississippi Uniform Rules of Youth Court Practice, filed by the Mississippi Council of Youth Court Judges. The Council filed a prior petition that was posted for comment on October 26, 2017, and dismissed without prejudice on February 8, 2018.

To ensure adequate appeal records when a court summarily dismisses a motion for post-conviction collateral relief, the Supreme Court’s Rules Committee on Civil Practice and Procedure proposes amending Rule 54 of the Mississippi Rules of Civil Procedure.

Public Comments Sought on Proposed Amendments to Rule 10(b) of the Mississippi Rules of Appellate Procedure
Circuit Judge Thomas J. Gardner III filed a letter motion asking the Supreme Court to amend Rule 10(b) of the Mississippi Rules of Appellate Procedure to require attorneys to provide the specific date of any pre- or post-trial hearing they seek to designate as part of the record on appeal. The Court seeks comments on proposed amendments.
